Why do French Bulldog puppies cost so much?

Preparing for a Litter

Unlike most canine's, Frenchie's do not normally mate or give birth on their own.  French Bulldogs require additional assistance when producing a successful litter.  Time goes into planning the breeding pair which includes doing research on lineage, health and DNA testing for each pairing.

Once a successful match is made, the future momma to be is carefully watched and seen by a certified Arizona Vet and Reproductive specialist.  Bloodwork, cycle tracking and testing is carefully monitored including x-rays.  The male also goes under reproductive care.  Because males can easily overheat during a breeding, special care is planned to extract and analyze sperm for the in vitro insemination.

Once a pregnancy is confirmed, both moms plan a c-section date and carefully monitor diet, vitamins and bloodwork to ensure that puppies are carefully brought into the world.  Then the hard part begins! French Bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed which means that they need to be monitored for additional breathing concerns, stress and overheating.  Eating, care, maintenance of momma and babies becomes the human mom's responsibility starting before the puppies are born, requiring around the clock care 24 hours a day through 8 weeks after whelping.

The Nursery

Properly preparing our home is a total team effort.  We sanitize indoors and outdoor areas to ensure that momma and other dogs are not exposed to any harmful exposure until puppies can develop their immune systems to fight against disease.

I have a built in Frenchie Nursery to care for, nurse, and monitor all litters with around the clock attention.  We stock up on puppy pads, medication, vitamins, and specialized food for momma and babies.

When visiting our home we take great measures to protect the health and wellbeing of all our animals which includes a daily sanitation to ensure that our dogs are not exposed to anything that could harm their immune systems until puppies are fully vaccinated.  Don't forget to follow us on Instagram or Facebook, we post pictures during the while whelping several times a day. Upon request we will even do a FaceTime or zoom call to being building the bond that lasts "FUR-Ever!"

Puppy Product Recommendations: 

Many new families will ask us for our favorite products when bring home a new puppy.  We have recommendations and suggestions that may help you determine which product you will use.

1. Select a Vet - Don't forget to schedule your 1st wellness exam.  Ask your vet if they have experience with French Bulldogs.  Don't feel bad by asking questions.  This of this as selecting a preschool or day care.

2. Select a feeding program that will provide the best nutrition possible.  We use Royal Canin and provide a detailed feeding schedule and nutrition program guide that will set your baby up for a long healthy, happy and fit life.  Royal Canin also has a program to auto ship directly to your home so you never have to worry about running out or remember to stop by the store. 3. Training Program - Once fully vaccinated, think about ways to interact and socialize your new family member by enrolling them in Puppy class.  We have some wonderful trainers we can recommend on the East side of the valley.
