AKC Stud Gallery

Contrary to popular belief, the French Bulldog was first bred in England, not France, in an attempt to make a toy-sized English Bulldog. Frenchie’s became very popular, especially among lace workers, a lot of whom emigrated to France and took their canine companions with them. Soon, the French Bulldog popularity spread throughout Europe and onto America. It was first shown at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in 1896.

Painted Desert Frenchie’s takes great care to do DNA and Health testing on all our working studs to ensure breed health, quality, and structure. French Bulldogs are a healthy breed. There are a few health issues French Bulldogs are prone to including allergies, ear infections, and patellar luxation. However, we take very careful measures to ensure our males are evaluated yearly at the Vet for overall health, exams, bloodwork, and evaluations. All our males have health and DNA testing before ever being paired with a special female. It is very important to us to help ensure the breed standard starts with healthy, physically fit, mentally sound, and happy parents.
